Fact or Myth: Music Lessons make kids smart

It has always been suggested that music lessons can have a beneficial effect on children's brain development. Scientific studies conducted by Canadian researchers from McMaster University in Hamilton and the University of Toronto support this theory. Using brain scans of children to test brain responses, the study conclude that children who took music lessons showed greater brain development and memory improvement than those who did not. These findings were published in the Brain Journal, September 2006.
